The Human Rights Project - 20th and 21st Jan

The Human Rights Project is a US based trio consisting of Mark Gonzales, a poet and an educator and hip hop artists Nizar Wattad and Omar Offendum who offer a unique examination of identity, pop culture and growing up in the 'other' United States through lyrical beats and spoken word. They are currently touring within the region and will be in Dubai this week, for two nights only.

20th January, 2000-2300hrs - Alpha Club, Le Meridien, Garhoud
This will be their first live perfomance in Dubai. Expect a night of ground-breaking blend of beats and lyrics backed by our very own Dubai based DJ Solo.

21st January, 1930-2200hrs - Shelter, Al Quoz
An evening dedicated to poetry reading organised by Poeticians, The Human Rights Project will be special guests along with other Dubai based poets including Hind Shoufani, Nigel Holt, Kevin Simpson and others. The evening is thematically centered around social activism work, anti-war lyrics and building communities of peace, tolerance and love.

Here's a teaser of what to expect:
